The fairy-tale wedding took place at St. Paul's Cathedral. Eleven months later on June 21, 1982 Prince William Windsor was born. William is second in line for the throne after his father. Two years later their second son Prince Harry Windsor was born September 15, 1984. Diana said that during the months before was his birth, she and Charles were closer then they ever had been before, but after the birth of Harry the marriage went badly wrong. On August 28, 1996 the fairy-tale marriage came to an end: Charles and Diana divorced. A year later, on August 31, 1997, Diana died in a car crash.

Charles now is married to his long time love, Camilla Parker-Bowles.

Mini BiographyPrince Charles Philip Arthur George Mountbatten was born on November 14, 1948, almost a year after his parents' marriage. His mother is Princess Elizabeth, who later became Queen Elizabeth II and his father is Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His sister Anne was born in 1950 and later, in the 60s, came the births of brothers Andrew and Edward. Charles was educated at home in Buckingham Palace and then went to several different schools, including Gordonstoun, which his father attended.

In 1968, he graduated college, becoming the first heir to the British throne to graduate college. Later that year he was formally invested as Prince of Wales, a title he received in 1957. He dated many women, two of whom are Camilla Shand (later known as Camilla Parker-Bowles), and Sarah Spencer, the sister of his future wife.

He and Diana met in 1977 at a hunt at her father's estate. In 1981 they became engaged and were married. On June 21, 1982 son William Arthur Philip Louis was born, followed on September 15, 1984 by Henry Charles Albert David ("Harry"). Charles & Diana grew apart and in 1992, amid rumors of affairs on both parties, they separated and in 1996, they were divorced. In 1997 Diana died in a car crash and afterward, Charles made an effort to spend as much time possible with his sons. He took Harry with him to see Spice World in Africa shortly afterward.

After the death of Princess Diana, Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles cooled their romance down a bit. Several years afterward, William and Harry were formally introduced to her. In 2003 Charles and Camilla moved into the Palace that once belonged to his grandmother. They were to be married on April 8, 2005 but because of the funeral of Pope John Paul II they were married the next day instead. Shortly after their marriage they made a journey to the U.S. and have since lived relatively quietly in England.

Personal QuotesIt seems to me that music is a fascinating phenomenon because, on the one hand, it is a truly universal language that knows no barriers of origin, creed or circumstance, and therefore has the capacity to engage us all. On the other, its expression and enjoyment is entirely personal, and so often the memory of a particular piece of music is bound up with an event in our lives.
